NCAA Tournament

Any of you who know my husband know that he loves his sports and Micah is quickly following in his footsteps. (At this moment they are outside either tossing the football or playing baseball.)

Anyway the NCAA basketball tournament has been on our TV all weekend. We were able to watch the beginning of the UNI/Kansas game yesterday, but had a church gathering last night so we were not able to watch the whole thing. We had to convince Micah that he needed to cheer for UNI (we have some friends who are alumni and some who are currently attending UNI) because one of his friends at school is Kansas fan (I believe his dad is an alumni). After Micah was convinced he cheered with all his heart.

I am not sure when Micah found out that UNI won (either last night or this morning), but he was quite excited. (As were all of us!) However we were watching the interview on CBS with UNI's coach and one of the players. We were discussing that they would not play until next weekend and that they were able to go home and practice at home. At this point Micah jumps into the conversation and says something about them coming home and being able to practice at home. He thought that was good because then they could come home and practice with their basketball hoops that are on top of their garage. LOL!

I am not sure that he grasps how involved Division I basketball is! That is okay. It will be soon enough that he figures it all out!

Swimming Lessons

A few weeks ago the kids started taking swimming lessons. They love it! Today was the first day that I went along, usually my mother-in-law takes them (Thanks, Linda!). It was so entertaining to see them in the water and see how much they have learned in just 3 lessons. We have some video footage of them, but these are the first still pics we have.

Becca trying to float. It actually looks she is floating in this pic!

A little hard to see, but Becca actually has her face under the water!

Micah doing Tickle, T, Touch. I remember that one from my swimming lesson days!

Pay attention to your teacher and mommy! At least he is smiling!

The biggest problem that I can see is that the kids are not ready to get out of the water when their lesson is over! Even with only a 20-25 min lesson they are exhausted when they are done!

Feels like spring

The sun is shining and the snow is melting!!!!! It finally feels like winter might be loosening its grip on us. I know that it is still the first week of March and snow often falls in March yet, but I am still rejoicing that some of this snow is leaving us! (We should have know when it snowed in early October that it was going to be a nasty winter....)

With the sun shining the kids got outside to play with a few less layers and actually dug out the bikes and scooters instead of the sleds and shovels. It took Micah a few tries, but he got the hang of his bike in short order (apparently his head grew over the winter though because he is going to need a new helmet!) Becca also gained some confidence on her scooter. It was fun to see them playing and enjoying their "summertime" toys!

We did have our first owie for the season. And yes that little red dot required a band-aid. :)
